Our guide to gay bars in Lisbon.
Gay cafes, bars and nightlcubs in Lisbon are quite mixed. The city has become one of the top places from trendy European gays to party and you will find the top DJS playing at special theme events every weekend. Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real are the two main gay districts. The Barrio offers a more tourist flavor and is definitely more mixed. Meanwhile Príncipe Real offers a real taste of the gay scene in the city with authentic bars, friendly staff and a warm welcome.
Bars we recommend in the Barrio Alto include Bar Espaço 40e1 a small bar popular for pre-clubbing drinks at the centre of the Gay Corner where the streets fill up from the early evening.
GPS is a great place to grab a snack either early or late open from 9am to 4am at the weekends. Sétimo Céu Bar has been a gay favorite for years, popular with locals and with a busy dark/backroom. Finally, Side is a small gay-friendly bar with street tables in the “Esquina,” open 6pm-2am and later on weekends.
Príncipe Real is home to some of the cruiser bars as well as the “Bear Trail” a group of bars popular with bears and admirers. Bar Cru, The Cock and Woof X are all popular cruising spots. Tr3s Lisboa is perhaps one of the busiest bars with an international mix of guys.
You will also find the main weekend nightclubs in Príncipe Real. Construction is open from midnight to 6am and is popular with bears and hosts special theme parties and foam nights. Trumps is the fashionable place to party attracting a more mixed crowd and younger gay guys.
Finaly no visit to Lisbon would be complete without a visit to Finalmente with its famous drag shows and late night 6am closing all week.
