Gay guide to LISBON & What you need to know!

A quick guide to getting the most out of your gay holiday to Lisbon

Lisbon Hills

Lisbon, the city has some of the most stunning viewpoints or Miradouros. The hilly landscape gives you different views of the city and surrounding areas

Lisbon is one of the most affordable of all the European Capitals. It has recently exited an economic crisis that has forced the gay scene to innovate and the scene is blossoming with new bars, parties and festivals.

The gay scene in Lisbon is located in two distinct neighbourhoods, Barrio Alto, which is at the heart of the city and Principe Real. Barrio Alto is rowdy, touristy and great for drinking amazing Caiaphas on the streets! Principe Real is where you will find many of the bear and cruise bars together with an altogether more relaxed scene!

The gay clubs get busy during the weekends with Trumps the home of the young and the beautiful. Construction club, recently refurbished, is home to guys looking for something a little harder, edgier and with a cruisy atmosphere.

If you are visiting the city during the Summer Season then don’t miss the chance to visit Post 19, Lisbon’s beautiful gay beach.  Finally main events include the Bear Pride in May, the Annual Pride March and Party in June and Queer Lisboa – the largest gay film festival in Europe in September! Lisbon has something to suit all tastes!

  • Where to Stay?

You will want to stay close to the gay districts so you should choose a hotel nearPríncipe Real or Bairro Alto. Baixa and Chiado are also centrally located. Hotels are cheaper relative to other European capitals and book up fast so reserve early!

  • Ready to Party - Late!

During the Summer, the 2 largest gay clubs (Trumps & Construction) open also on Thursdays (in addition to Fridays and Saturdays). Remember to only head to a club after 2am.
